The Dubai Light Rail Transit project was funded and built by the Municipal Government of Dubai, and a total of 446 escalators were supplied by SMEC. This supply of escalators for the Project has so far been the maximum in the public transport projects in which SMEC has participated. Dubai Metro (the green line) uses A-type escalators, of which 162 escalators were elected the "Best Project of the Year" by the famous American magazine Elevator World.
